Back seat drivers. Don't you realize that I'm in the car and there's no way I'm going to hurt myself? All you do is add to the stress, which could lead to distraction, which could lead to an accident.
Aggressive drivers. You cut me off, almost cause a rear end collision to get five feet ahead of me? Really?
Artificial plants. What's that about?
Party line voters. What's the problem? You'd rather vote for a party than have to think?
Phobias. Mine included. Can you say CLOWNS!!!!!!!!!
Clicks. There's nothing worse than a bunch of thirty + people acting like a bunch of unsupervised kids on a playground.

Gay Marriage: More Binding Than a Catholic Wedding, is an All the Way IN radio program hosted by Deborah E. Lake. The program will air live on Monday, March 5th at 6:30pm EST. Guest Mariette Geldenhuys, Attorney at Law will address the fact that same gender couples who no longer wish to be together often live in a commitment limbo because of the inconsistency in state laws.“Because there is no uniform approach to recognizing same gender committed relationships in America, lesbian and gay couples need to be especially informed before entering into a civil union or marriage,” said Lake.

This will be Geldenhuys' second interview on All the Way IN radio. During her first interview, she outlined the chaotic legal state of same gender committed couples. “It saddens me that we have to think this way, but this is really important,” said Geldenhuys. “It is much wiser to think it through carefully.” Gay marriage is recognized legally in different ways and only in a small number of states. Add to this, the lack of clear leadership at the federal level, and same gender couples who want to build a life together face an unpredictable future. This means that same gender couples need to think about how they would proceed if the unthinkable happens—they no longer want to remain a couple—at a time when they should be celebrating with family and friends. Minister Takes Local Adult Bookstore to Fight HIV/AIDS

At a time when Americans have the most access to HIV prevention information and medication, the rate of new infections continues to climb. With our nation’s capital having rates previously seen only in African countries, Rev. Deborah E. Lake is taking bold steps to respond. Today, she will host a BlogTalkRadio show titled God IN Sex. September 10, she will host a women only event at a well-known Chicago adult bookstore.

“What I expect to happen with these and future events is that talking about sex will be done in safety and with respect,” said Lake in an interview. September 4, starting at 5:30pm Central Time Lake will host her BlogtalkRadio show episode called God IN Sex. Her guest will be Dr. Elsbeth Meuth from Tantra Nova Institute.

Lake will begin her woman defined conversation about what it means to be sexual and spiritually connected individuals. Listeners can call-in questions and comments during the show. “With information and support women can take charge of their bodies and their lives.” Lake continued. Thursday, September 10, Lake will take over the Wells Street Adult bookstore at 178 N. Wells Street between the hours of 5 and 9pm. She will create a women only space of exploration and education that she calls Sex for Real Women. “From the time we are little girls, most of us are taught to ignore our bodies, especially if sex is involved,” said Lake when asked why women should attend. “As a minister, I see time and again women who have lost, or never had, power over their own sexuality,” Lake continued.

Always taking her ministry beyond the boundary of one church, Rev. Lake has invited Dr. Meuth to also join her at Wells Street. Lake and Meuth will bring the message that women have a God given right to sexual integrity, fulfillment, and pleasure. “ I want women to reconnect with their feminine essence and come more fully into their joy and pleasure,” said Meuth during an interview. The Wells Street store will have an all female staff available for the evening to answer questions about products.

A portion of the sales during Sex for Real Women will be donated to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC). There will be a $5.00 admission fee, all of which will be donated to AFC. Nearly 1.2 million Americans live with HIV, and 40,000 more will become infected this year, according to AFC statistics. “Not talking about sex is what puts many of us in jeopardy,” said Lake. Women who attend will not only have a fun, safe evening as they get dignified answers to private questions, they will also help fund the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Sex for Real Women is an 18 and over event. Valid ID required for entry.

My father, Vanderbilt Lake, taught me how to love myself, love my country, respect others, honor my family, and never submit to the expectations of others. He has been dead for 18 years, but I still can hear his warm tenor voice telling me to let the words of my foes roll away from me like water from a duck's back.

He was the first person in my life to show how to endure the times when the world seemed determined to destroy me. As a young man in his early 20's, my father witnessed the torture and lynching of several close family members. He then had to flea the state of Georgia for his life because the lynch mob wanted to kill everyone who was a Lake. My father went on to become a WWI and WWII veteran, loving husband, wonderful father, creative entrepreneur, and passionate patriot.

The Vanderbilt Principles (formally the 12 Principles for Living All the Way IN Life) are based on the clear and poignant wisdom that my father taught me. His life lessons still comfort me in difficult times and inform me when making important decisions.

Sharing what I know through the Vanderbilt Principles is my way of honoring my father while helping all who follow these principles.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself.

Where will I live my Plan A life?
Who will be in my Plan A life? Write a description of the people who will surround you.
How do I look? Are you smaller? Larger? Better dressed?
How do I feel inside? Am I secure? Confident? Happy? Empowered?
How does my home look?
Car?
Family?

Each detail will give you information that you will use while making decisions later, so be very specific at this stage. Take your time. It took you years to get where you are now. Your life will not change overnight.

I believe that God wants us to live full, rich, loving, and honest lives. As Christians we can claim all that God offers by following the example left by Jesus Christ.

To make following Jesus less complicated, since there are many versions and interpretations of what Jesus said and did not say, I have developed 12 principles to use as a frame of reference for understanding what Jesus taught.

Live the life that is already yours by incorporating my twelve principles into how you face adversity, celebrate accomplishments, express love, receive love, and search for meaning and self-worth.

No Plan B.
Honor who you are.
Know who you are now, and prepare to meet the person God meant for you to be.
Honor those who honor you.
Remember your teachers.
Erase this saying from your mind: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Fear is your foe. Fight to remove fear from your heart.
Blood ties are not the same as family ties.
'No' can be a 4 letter word.
'Yes' can be a 4 letter word.
Live twice, once as a naive innocent and once as a wise adult.
Embrace adversity while you wrap yourself in truth.
